Crossroads Visits

It is preferred that all teams (complex or predictable) visit this site once without your animal to see if your are comfortable with the environment.  Contact Jen Lewis to set up a time to visit.

In the past this setting was considered complex, but we have determined that if the human is comfortable with kids it would work for some predictable teams.

For a predictable team we will set up a veteran team to come and mentor you the first time you and your pet partner go together.

Meet and greet with your pet partner at 5:45 work with the group from 6-7pm

Don’t enter the playroom until the counselor is in control and all the kids are seated.  Wait in the office area.

The counselor must lead the group.  We are visitors, not leaders.  Encourage this.

Bring a bag with things to help the kids to interact with your animal such as grooming tools, animal books, animal games and your animal’s photo album or scrapbook.

Split up and spread out into stations.

Keep the kids focused.

Make sure there is a volunteer with each station.

Regroup at the end of an hour.  Get the group to sit again and wrap up the session.  Make sure everybody is seated and then you can get up and exit safely.
