You have to go through the facility background check.
You have to do a series of two TB tests. These are free through PVH Health Care.
Linda wants to have one-on-one interviews with the humans only and will schedule this with you once you have done steps 1 through 3.
A volunteer orientation training specific to the MCR with Linda.
A time for Linda to meet your Pet Partner.
Get an ID tag for you and your dog which will be made at the facility and get your MCR volunteer shirt (LAPP can reimburse you for this expense).
Provide Linda with documents showing your Delta Pet Partner registration as well as a health/shot record for your dog from your Vet. Humans need to have their TB tests updated yearly and dogs need to have updated health record turned in to Linda at the same time.
Linda will set you up to shadow one of the Veteran Pet Partner Teams making visits.
Get on the visitation schedule. You can "Job share" a day with other teams (for example - You commit to the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month and someone else takes the 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays). Or, you can come weekly and commit to set venues when you come (i.e. Thursdays on 4th floor and Radiology while another team covers Thursdays 3rd floor and ER).
